Chemmy Alcott takes massive fall and breaks leg

Chemmy Alcott, three-time Olympian British Ski racer and CoolBoard team rider has broken her leg in a horrific flying crash whilst training in Lake Louise, Canada for the World Cup. Whilst in the tricky Coaches Corner section of the World Cup downhill run she took a jump and never regained balance, at approx. 80 mph Chemmy lost her skis and poles and slid down the mountain side before coming to a stop.

Chemmy was then airlifted to hospital in Banff with an open fracture of the tibia and a compound fracture of the fibula in her right leg. ‘The rescue services and paramedics in Canada are amazing’ says Chemmy.

Although Chemmy’s season may be over she is ‘trying not to make any rash decisions about my future, but I really want to get back to skiing, I love skiing’ she explains.

Wow! What an amazing show this year! The CoolBoard team was at the ski and snowboard show from start to finish. Thanks to everyone who came and saw the stand and had a go on a CoolBoard. It was great to chat with you guys and get some CoolBoard info out there.

Highlights of the show included the big air competition, in which free skiers and snowboarders showed us some skills coming off a 45 degree slope in the middle of Olympia! We also couldn't resist to huskies who were good enough to let us take a photo with them, and the fashion show was also very entertaining with the models break dancing down the cat walk in the latest ski gear!

We are very excited about Jenny Jones becoming a CoolBoard team rider. We met Jenny at the show and she had a go on CoolBoard, straight away she could see the benefits it would give her in her snowboard training and it went from there! Really pleased to have Jenny on the team.

We also met up with Skiers Ed Drake and Chemmy Alcott and were really pleased to hear CoolBoard had helped in their training running up to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver earlier this year. Videos will be coming soon of Ed and Chemmy.

Metro Ski and Snowboard Show!

Try out the Coolboard Waikiki Lift!

Waikiki Lift

Simply the best way to achieve athletic legs and buns of steel!

Start position: Place the CoolBoard on the floor with the ball underneath. Place your feet on the grips with your buttocks on the floor, approximately six inches away from the board. Push with your feet so that the board balances on the ball.

Exercise: Raise your buttocks from the floor as high as possible, hold and then slowly lower. Aim for three sets of twenty-five. To intensify the exercise, cross your arms over your chest.

Progression: Cross arms over chest. Gradually move feet together, and then raise one foot.

Tarp Surfing vs. Chain Surfing

All the landlocked surfer’s out there will understand the craving for the buzz, and long for a trip to the coast just to get in the water, but for some a fix is needed closer to home. Tarp surfing

A skateboard and a piece of blue tarpaulins is all you need to ride this barrel! So what’s it all about? Tarp surfing simply consists of riding a skateboard over a piece of tarpaulins whilst your mate pulls it across your head to form the shape of a wave…….. you’ve got to see it to believe it.

This new way of catching a wave in the street, in a car park or just about anywhere has taken off with videos from around the world uploaded to youtube, people forming ‘tarp crews’ and even apple using it in the new ipod ad.

Chain Surfing

No board is needed for this extreme urban sport. All you need is a chain…….

This chain surfer has got some skill and some balls! Chain surfing is an up and coming craze taking place is city’s and towns all over the world, from Brazil to California everyone’s at it! Although if I was in California I’d probably just go surfing……….

So does the rolling waves of tarp surfing get your vote or the erratic movement of chain surfing win you over.

Myself (Nic), Sam - CoolBoard lover and part time hobbit, and Dr Paul Moody - international super star DJ and CoolBoard pro, would just like to say...

"Massive thank you to the Metro Ski show and all the lovely peeps we met down there. We worked our socks off and loved every second. We met many old friends and made many new ones. Almost everybody at the show loved CoolBoard, several other stands bought one and liked it so much they had it out on their stands – thank you guys.

Popping out for some food, it was great to see happy customers with a CoolBoard under one arm and a smile on their face. To all those who bought one, thanks you, and I hope you liked the show discount price! A big air clap to all for making the CoolBoard stand one of the busiest and most fun stands at the show!

Fred Syversen with new CoolBoard in colours of Norway

Fred Syversen, genius extreme free skier, has become our latest team rider after we met at the show and he fell for CoolBoard. This is the guy who accidentally set the record for the highest ever cliff drop – 107m! Although unintentional, he realised what was going on and used his skill and bravery to keep himself alive –his full story coming soon...

More of you kept trying to be the first to pull off a CoolBoard pop shove-it on film... something about being on camera seems to jinx it every time!

We met many Personal Trainers and Physiotherapists, many of them buying a CoolBoard... which means you should be seeing CoolBoard a lot more in gyms and at the physiotherapist in 2010. We’re just working on our gym classes, so look out for fun group exercises classes in your gym soon. If your gym hasn’t got some CoolBoards yet, give them a nudge from us, you shouldn’t be missing out!

We had great fun meeting and filming with the Welsh Channel 4 Children’s crew. Their presenter had many giggles getting up on CoolBoard, and then falling off!

We were approached by Times on-line. They will be testing a whole range of ski fit products, and reckon they’ve found a winner in CoolBoard, lookout for their write-up soon.

Mikee and Sa at For Boarders By Boarders (FBBB for short!) had a wicked stand showing some of the best graffiti skills. They took a CoolBoard to graff up, can’t wait to see it. And Mikee, I know you wanted to hide it, but I hope you had an awesome birthday buddy ;).

CoolBoard going to Metro Ski Show, London

Hi All,

Just wanted to give you all the heads up... we're gonna be down at the Metro Ski and Snowboard show this week with the 'CoolBoard balance and fitness board' stand G63, on the balcony, starting 11.00am Wednesday 21st morning and not letting up til Sunday 25th.

Last time we were down Zack and the Dark Summer Crew kindly had us along, and we made some good friends with the FBBB (For Boarders By Boarders) crew headed up by Mikee and Chico, so it'll be good to catch up with those guys, and all the other spot on peeps we met down there.

This show will be mammoth... if you're in any way into you snowy fun get your behind down there... it's the easiest way to see all the shops and brands under one roof and grab yourself some deals.

We've been working our arses off to make sure we'll put on a hell of a show! We'll have one of our biggest ever stands so come on down and see us. We'll of course have wicked deals on CoolBoards so if you wanna get yourself (or a loved one?!) an early Christmas present, so come say hello!

CoolBoard at White Air Show Extreme Sports Show

Thank you all White Air Visitors... Sam and I had an awesome weekend on the CoolBoard balance board stand with all of you down at the show - it rocked. See our pics and vids below...

Every morning started with a Red Arrows Display, the sun shone and everyone had a smile! We had an impromptu CoolBoard pop shove-it competition when 3 hot heads went for it, check out the video...

Along with all of you who bought a ticket, we also entertained most of the White Air staff (big thumbs up, you were all ace), Olly from Ollypop surf trainers, a few coppers (see pics) and our most notable rider to date - The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Ann Norman. She loved CoolBoard and if she hadn't been dragged away by other duties she'd have gone away with her very own CoolBoard! Come on Ann, give us a call...

We also met a family who bought one of the very first CoolBoards! From way back when they were waxed rather that the new hardwearing varnish, nice one guys, you were all ace and it was a pleasure – enjoy your new extras!!!

The friendly arm of the RAF were tempted away from their stands with the allure of CoolBoards, and we sent them away with a couple of CoolBoard balance boards for each of their wakeboarding centres and surf centre after they saw the training and fun potential! Nice one Kieri and Ben.

So thanks again to all, I think the White Air Show represented the end of the ‘summer’, and a good way to end it was!
